Sofa licking
« on: January 11, 2018, 11:11:45 pm »
Hello all! Just wondering if anyone can relate to this? In the past month or so Violet has taken to licking a sofa cushion (always the same one) and she makes it really wet and does this a couple of times a day - if not more.  She seems happy enough but it's a new behaviour and I wonder if any of you have experienced anything similar and if anyone knows why she might do this??? I would be grateful for any opinions...  :P

Our previous..2 bullies ago...bullie used yo lick our leather sofa
is yours leather or fabric...they say it could be stress or licking your smells...or maybe she has a stomach upset?? it can be an OCD.. but keep an eye on her.. Phoebe licks us..our arms.. our neck our legs and doesn't know when to stop..Toddy used to do  it too....nothing has been spilt on it..has it..maybe try Washing it cleaning it and see if she still does it

Archie has a real problem licking - not a cushion but his leg especially after he has eaten - unfortunately I think it is probably a touch of OCD - I try to distract him or cover his leg to stop him ::) ::)

Perhaps it's the same with Violet - she did it once and obviously enjoyed the sensation and now is developing a habit ? try covering it with a throw and see what she does ??? ???

Thanks for the replies - have tried covering the cushion but she moves it off she is still doing it about two times a day for about three minutes then stops! she doesn't seem to have a stomach upset or anything? I think she's just a bit odd!! I don't think it's an OCD type of behavior more of a habit she's got into? If she starts doing it relentlessly I shall move the cushion - so we shall see....  :-[

We have throws all over our sofa - Violet doesn't bother with the leather one - I am forever trying to pull the throws all lovely and nice over the sofa - as soon as I've done Madam has pulled them all down - makes the sofa look really untidy she does!! It does irritate me  :-\
